Police investigating injury to child from Hays

A 6-week-old boy was flown from Hays to a Wichita hospital early Friday, and police are working to find out how he received a head injury. 

Lieutenant Steve Kenney said the boy was flown to Wesley Medical Center around 1 a.m. with bleeding inside the skull.  The boy was placed in the pediatric intensive care unit, and he was also placed in police protective custody.

Kenney said the boy's parents, a 30-year-old man and a 28-year-old woman, told investigators they didn't know how the injury happened.  Police were unable to contact a babysitter.
