Pizza delivery driver robbed in south Wichita

Friday, January 27, 2012

Police are looking for a man who robbed a pizza delivery driver in south Wichita late Thursday night.  It happened around 11 p.m. in the 1500 block of West Pawnee.

Lieutenant Steve Kenney said the driver was delivering a pizza when he was approached by a man who demanded money.  The man struck the driver in the head twice with a small baseball bat, knocking him to the ground.  The robber then took a wallet and cell phone and several pizzas from the driver.  He also got away in the driver's car, a gold 2000 Honda Accord with a license tag of 304 EFI.

The driver was treated and released at a hospital for minor injuries.  The robber was described as an African American man around 45 years of age, around 5 feet 9 and 180 pounds.
