A shooting in southeast Wichita left a 29-year-old man in stable condition Wednesday evening. The shooting was the result of an argument that broke out at a home in the 3400 block of East Munger, in the Planeview neighborhood.
Lieutenant Todd Ojile said 3 bail bondsmen went to the home to arrest a woman on a misdemeanor warrant. The woman was not there, but the bondsmen got into an argument with the woman's family. During the dispute, one of the bondsmen sprayed mace and a man threw a concrete block at the bondsmen. That man was then hit by a taser by one of the bondsmen.
Ojile said a man brought out a gun, and the bondsmen tried to leave. The gunman fired 2 shots, one in the air and the other at the bondsmen, and one of the bondsmen was hit in the back. He was in stable condition after surgery.
Ojile said police are looking for a 47-year-old man believed to be the gunman. A 24-year-old man was arrested for throwing the concrete block, which did not hit anyone. A 26-year-old man was taken into custody on a parole violation. Ojile said detectives are still looking into the circumstances that led to the shooting.
