K-254 and Rock Road crash

Weather apparently was not a factor in a crash that left a Towanda teenager hospitalized in Wichita.

It happened about 9:25 Friday morning at K-254 and Rock Road. Kansas Highway Patrol Trooper David Stivers says 17-year-old Duane Farmer was westbound in a 1990 Honda Accord, when he attempted a left hand turn onto Rock from K-254.

Stivers says Farmer's car was struck broadside by an eastbound SUV driven by 33-year-old Jamie Balderston of Andover. The impact sent both vehicles into the southeast corner ditch. Farmer was sent to Wesley Medical Center in serious condition, while Balderston was not hurt.
