Casino trouble for south central Kansas

Kansas Lottery executive director Ed Van Petten says a proposed tribal casino in Park City may derail plans for a state-owned casino in Sumner County.

Ed Van Petten says developers of the Chisholm Creek Casino Resort near Mulvane are hesitant to go forward with a $225 million casino because of the tribe's plans.

The Wyandotte Tribe owns 10.5 acres near Park City and has applied to the Department of the Interior put the land in trust for gaming. A representative of the tribe says it's still waiting to hear from the federal government.

Van Petten says negotiations with the Chisholm Creek develpers could be done by the middle or end of next week. But he says he doesn't know if there will be a contract.
