Sedgwick County has received five bids for a large-scale industrial park. County commissioners have been talking about the development of an industrial park area that would attract environmentally friendly, high-tech companies. The deadline for bids was Wednesday, and one of the bids is the site that was originally being considered, an 808-acre property owned by the city of Bel Aire.
There are two properties from the city of Wichita, one near Mid Continent Airport and the other located in the area of 53rd Street North and Arkansas, near the Big Ditch. There's also a site at Kechi, near K-254 and Webb Road, and the Derby Corporate Park near 55th Street South and Oliver.
A county staff committee will study the bids and make a recommendation to county commissioners.
