Derby man charged with threatening to blow up a federal office

U-S Attorney Lanny Welch says a 53-year-old Derby man has been charged with threatening a federal employee on duty.

A criminal complaint filed Wednesday says Ted Mangold, also known as " Melissa Mangold" walked into the Social Security Office at 32-07 North Cyprus Monday with a container and threated to blow up the building. He was arrested later that day in Derby once police identified a truck in the driveway of the home. If convicted, Mangold faces a maximum of one year in federal prison and a fine up to $100,000. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives investigated the case.
