Arson is the cause of a 100-thousand dollar house fire that broke out Sunday morning in the City of Mulvane. It happened shortly after nine o'clock after the people who lived there were at church. Firefighters arrived and found heavy smoke coming from the single story house that had a built in basement. " It took about thirty-minutes to determine the home had a basement filled with various items that were on fire." Fire Captain Lowell Ester said . Udall, Derby, and Belle Plaine Fire Departments assisted with the fire. A 21-year-old volunteer firefighter, who lived with his parents, was fired, after he admitted to setting the blaze. So far, no charges have been filed against him.
